Schoolboy hit by car dies

A 12-year-old boy has died in hospital after being hit by a car on his way home from school.

Joe Caven-Norris, a pupil at Laurence Jackson School in Guisborough died on Saturday afternoon after suffering head and chest injuries.

He was struck by a silver-grey BMW car on Thursday at about 3.50pm as he got off the 828 bus just outside Guisborough on Margrove Road with the junction with Margrove Park.

He was airlifted to James Cook University hospital where was in intensive care for two days.

A police spokesman said: "Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses who were on the bus or in the area at the time of the incident."
