Dog lovers looking for a new best friend will be happy to learn there are dozens of dogs up for adoption in Darlington.

Dogs Trust Darlington have plenty of rescue dogs looking for a forever home.

We have compiled a list of seven pups hoping to bring some light into their new owner's lives.

Brooke, Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross - two to five-years-old 

The Northern Echo:

Brook is a lovely Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a loving home without other pets or children.

She is a sensitive and lovable girl who prefers a quieter environment and enjoys spending time with her human companions.

Brooke is currently part of a special buddy program to help her socialize, and she would benefit from a family who can continue this work.

She loves going for walks in quieter areas and would appreciate a secure garden to play in.

Delilah, Shar Pei cross - two to five-years-old

The Northern Echo:

Delilah is a beautiful girl who loves affection and enjoys snuggling up on the sofa.

She would do best with someone who is home most of the day and can gradually help her adjust to being alone.

Delilah is undersocialised with other dogs and will need continued training in her new home.

She can share her home with secondary school-aged children and is described as an "absolute dream" to have.

Sandy, Shar Pei cross, one to two-years-old

The Northern Echo:

A sweet and energetic girl, Sandy is seeking a family that can provide her with plenty of attention and playtime.

Sandy can live with primary school-aged children and would also enjoy the company of another playful pooch.

She loves learning new tricks and staying mentally active, and would make a fun addition to any family.

Lexi, Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross - five to seven-years-old

The Northern Echo:

Lexi is a quiet and sweet girl who loves cuddling up on the sofa.

The centre have said she needs a home without other pets or children under 16.

She enjoys the company of her human friends and is described as low maintenance and loving.

Lexi is currently in a foster home and has settled in well according to Trust staff.

Mac, Crossbreed - five to seven-years-old

The Northern Echo:

Like Lexi, Mac will also need a quiet adult home or one with older teens.

He enjoys spending time in a secure garden and going on car rides.

Mac must be on a lead and muzzled during walks and prefers quiet areas where he can relax.

He is described by staff as a beautiful boy who loves to play and has a wonderful personality.

Patch, English Springer Spaniel - five to seven-years-old

The Northern Echo:

Patch has had a difficult life and needs a home with adopters willing to work with him and Dogs Trust rehabilitation trainers.

He has resource guarding issues and may be reactive towards other dogs in such situations.

Patch requires an adult-only home and ongoing training, and has some medical needs regarding his ears and skin.
