CONTROVERSIAL plans for a 330 static caravan site on the edge of an historic country park have formally been submitted.
Theakston Farms' proposal for land west of Hardwick Park and north of Sedgefield Village, in County Durham, were the subject of a year-long protest campaign which ended in a six-day planning inquiry in July.
The application to place 330 caravans and 48 lodges on the land was opposed by Sedgefield Village Residents' Forum and Sedgefield Town Council.
Sedgefield Borough Council rejected the proposal on the grounds of overdevelopment of the countryside, a decision upheld by the planning inspector.
Now revised plans, which no longer include the lodges, have been resubmitted to the borough council.
Copies of the plans will be available to view at sedgefield.gov.uk in the next few days.
Anyone wishing to comment on the proposal is asked to do so, in writing to the council offices, on or before December 4.

Jolly Roger, Co Durham says...
10:41pm Fri 21 Nov 08
Over £1m has been spent on doing up the Hardwick parkland which is a listed site and to put a caravan park next to it well beggards belief.
Also can you see the kids of the caravan park not been attracted to the lake, and I hope in years to come I don't have to say I told you so when a kid is downed in the lake.
